A forex trading journal for MT4/MT5 and gold traders

If you trade XAUUSD or the majors on MetaTrader, your history is already sitting in a statement. TJ brings it in, adds the part MetaTrader can't: which setups you took, how you graded them, whether you followed your rules, and what each of those was worth in R.

Free plan · No card needed · TJ is journaling software, not financial advice.

Three ways to bring in MT4/MT5 trades

1. Auto-sync (Silvy and Sapphire)

Connect your MT4 or MT5 account once with its read-only investor password. TJ pulls your closed trades every few hours, saves the times in UTC and shows them in your own time zone, whatever your broker's server clock says. The investor password can't trade, and TJ never stores it.

2. Upload the statement

Import accepts MT4/MT5 history as CSV and the Statement.htm or .html file MetaTrader saves.

3. Log it by hand

Log It! takes about 20 seconds on your phone: prices in, and risk, R and P&L fill themselves.

Gold and index CFDs, sized correctly

 Built-in value
XAUUSD$100 per $1 move per standard lot (GOLD and XAU are read as XAUUSD)
US100, NAS100, USTEC$1 per point per lot
US30, US500 and similar$1 per point per lot
Currency pairs and othersAdd the value per point once in Profile, Instruments

Example: a $5.00 stop on 0.50 lots of XAUUSD risks $250. If your rule is 1% of a $25,000 account, that's exactly your size. Brokers differ on contract sizes, so check your symbol's specification and adjust the value in Profile if yours is different.

Sessions, news and the forex day

  • Sessions in your time zone: each trade records its session (Asian, London, the London–New York overlap or New York), so Review can show where your results come from.
  • Session vetoes: if Asian-session setups don't work for you, make “Asian” a veto in your checklist and Rate It! will say no trade.
  • Economic calendar: actual, forecast and previous values, filtered to the currencies you trade, with news alerts.

Grade the setup before you click

Write your strategy as a checklist. An SMC model, for example: trend aligned on 4H and 1H, a clean liquidity sweep, an order block at the sweep on the right side of premium/discount, a 1M change of character, and a target at real liquidity. Each check carries points; a wrong-side entry or no sweep can be a veto.

Rate It! gives a TJ score out of 100 and a grade from A+ (90+) to D. Weaker grades get a smaller size, and any veto means no trade. Over time, Review's R-by-grade report shows whether your A+ trades really earn their place.

Forex prop challenges

Rules are pre-filled for the FTMO 2-Step Challenge, FundedNext Stellar 2-Step and The5ers High Stakes. Pick your account size, and TJ counts the daily loss limit and drawdown on every trade and warns you as you get close. Every value is editable, and you can type the rules for any other firm.

Practise in Backtest with chart replay, or import FX Replay-style exports into a separate backtest account.

Who it's for

FAQ

Does TJ connect directly to MetaTrader?

Yes, on Silvy and Sapphire: connect MT4 or MT5 once with your read-only investor password and closed trades sync by themselves, with no plug-in or EA. On any plan you can upload the CSV or Statement.htm file.

Can I journal EURUSD and other pairs?

Yes. Gold and the main index CFDs have built-in point values; for currency pairs and any other symbol, add the dollar value per point once in Profile, Instruments.

Is TJ a trading system or advice?

No. TJ is journaling software, not financial advice. It grades setups only against the rules you wrote and analyses your own trades.

Is it free?

Yes, the journal is free. Silvy ($19 a month) adds the full Review, the trade chart and MetaTrader sync, and Sapphire ($59 a month) adds mentor spaces, with 30% off the first year for anyone who joins by 5 December 2026.
