Prop Firm Payout Calculator

A prop firm payout is the smallest of three limits (profit above the buffer you must leave, the share of profit allowed per request, and the dollar cap) times your profit split, minus fees. Enter your profit and your firm's payout rules to see what you can request, what reaches you and what stays in the account.

The formula

Request = the smallest of: profit − buffer, profit × max share per request, and the cap. If it's below the minimum payout, you can't request yet.

Reaches you = request × your split − transfer fee. Stays in the account = profit − request.

Profit needed for the full cap = the larger of buffer + cap and cap ÷ max share. With a 50% share and a $2,000 cap that's $2,000 ÷ 0.5 = $4,000.

Example 1 uses Topstep's 50K Express Funded rules: half of $3,000 is $1,500, below the $2,000 cap, and 90% of $1,500 is $1,350. Example 2 uses Apex's 50K EOD rules for a first payout: only profit above the $2,100 safety net counts, so $900. Example 3 is $200 short of the $2,600 needed for the $500 minimum.

Firm presets and sources

The presets come from each firm's own help pages, checked 27 October 2026. Payout rules change often and differ by plan, so check your firm's current page before you rely on a number.

  • Topstep, Express Funded Account (Standard path): 90/10 split; up to 50% of the account balance per request, capped at $2,000 (50K), $3,000 (100K) or $5,000 (150K); minimum $125. The balance starts at $0 and grows from your profits. Eligibility: 5 winning days of at least $150 net. The Consistency path has higher caps and a 40% best-day rule instead. Accounts that joined before 12 January 2026 keep 100% of the first $10,000. Topstep lists a $30 fee for ACH and wire payouts and none for some other methods, and has run offers that change the caps.
  • Apex Trader Funding, EOD Performance Accounts: 100% of the approved amount; minimum $500; only profit above the safety net (drawdown limit + $100) can be requested; caps rise from payout 1 to 6 (50K: $1,500 → $3,000). Eligibility: 5 trading days that each meet a minimum daily profit, and no single day may be 50% or more of the profit since the last payout. Up to six payouts per account.

Questions

How do you calculate a prop firm payout?

Take the smallest of three limits: your profit minus any amount the firm makes you leave in the account, the share of profit you may withdraw per request, and the dollar cap per request. If that is at least the firm's minimum payout, you can request it. What reaches you is that amount × your profit split, minus any transfer fee.

What is a prop firm profit split?

The share of each approved payout that you keep. With a 90/10 split you keep 90% and the firm keeps 10%: on a $1,500 request you receive $1,350. With a 100% split you keep the whole approved amount.

Why can't I withdraw all my profit?

Most funded accounts limit each request. Topstep's Express Funded Account allows up to 50% of the account balance per request, up to a dollar cap by account size. Apex's EOD Performance Accounts only pay profit above a safety net (the drawdown limit plus $100), up to a cap that rises with each payout. Check your own firm's page, because rules differ by plan.

How much profit do I need before my first payout?

Enough to clear the buffer and the minimum payout. On Apex's 50K EOD account, for example, the safety net keeps $2,100 of profit in the account and the minimum request is $500, so you need $2,600 of profit before a payout is possible. The calculator shows this as 'profit needed for the minimum'. Firms also require a number of qualifying days, which this calculator doesn't check.

Does this calculator check winning days or the consistency rule?

No. It works out the amount only. Payout eligibility also depends on rules such as a number of winning or trading days and, at some firms, a consistency rule. Those are listed under each preset's source; use the consistency rule calculator for that part.
